Wednesday’s Writing Workout — Beachin’ It…

toes in sandWho doesn’t love the beach? Okay, there are some people who don’t like the sand squishing between their toes. Or the salty ocean water tingling their skin. Or even the warm breeze blowing their hair in all directions. That’s understandable.

But for those of you who like the fresh air, salty spray, warm sunshine, sugary sands, and waves crashing ashore, I’m with you! I love spending lazy days in the sun, under an umbrella, or sitting on a balcony overlooking the ocean. Add a glass of wine and a good book to read – well, there isn’t anything else like it. Near heaven.

Here’s a fun writing project for beach lovers and non-beach lovers as well. Write a short story about one of the pictures in this article. Be descriptive. Use all five senses. What does the water feel like? What sounds do you hear? What are people doing? What color is the water? Sky? What does the air smell like? Does the salty air linger on your tongue?

Pick either picture. Or both. Have fun with this. I would love for you to email me your story thoughts. Or leave a teaser in the comments. Heck, I feel like giving something away. So to all who email or leave a comment either here or on my facebook page, your name will go in a drawing. I’m thinking $25 Amazon Gift Card. Who doesn’t love that – right? But I need those comments about one of the pictures. Ready, Set, Go!!
